We create engaging content for teaching chemistry
ChemMatters is a magazine that helps high school students find connections between chemistry and the world around them. Published since 1983 by the American Chemical Society’s Education Division, ChemMatters engages students with real-world applications of scientific concepts they learn in the classroom.
Publication Schedule
ChemMatters is published four times during the school year — October, December, February, and April.
Teacher’s Guides
A team of high school teachers puts together these guides for every issue of the magazine. The guides include resources needed to build lesson plans and incorporate articles into the classroom. The Teacher’s Guides for recent issues are all available for FREE online.

Anticipation Guide
Activate students’ prior knowledge and engage them before they read the article.
Graphic Organizer
Help students locate and analyze information from the article. Students are encouraged to paraphrase and summarize.

Assess how well students understand the content. These questions help direct the need for follow-up discussions and activities.
