This workshop takes place at the 2025 MidAtlantic Regional Meeting (MARM). Geared toward graduate students, postdocs, and undergraduates, it addresses the challenges of transitioning to independent research. This interactive session will highlight risk assessments, understanding the safety hierarchies of academic institutions, and student-led Laboratory Safety Teams. In collaboration with ACS Corporation Associates (ACS CA), the workshop will also feature a luncheon and moderated discussion with industrial professionals who will share their experiences and insights related to safety in the workplace and answer questions from the audience.
