Opportunity Description:
Chemical Process Development works with colleagues throughout the entire pharmaceutical development process, from discovery to commercial launch and beyond. Chemical engineers in CPD work on synthetic chemical processes for producing novel small molecule drug compounds and intermediates. These efforts can involve experimental laboratory studies, modeling of key unit operations, as well as preparation for scale-up in pilot plants. Specific unit operations that require investigation include reaction, distillation, extractive workup, crystallization, filtration, drying, and milling. The candidate will gain laboratory experience and an improved understanding of application of chemical engineering fundamentals in the pharmaceutical R&D industry. We are looking for students at the sophomore and junior level majoring in Chemical Engineering for our Engineering Intern program. Summer interns will work with mentors for ~10 weeks on a guided research project. The program is organized to ensure that interns gain valuable industry and functional experience, work on challenging assignments, learn about BMS and meet diverse company representatives.
