The ACS GCI Chemical Manufacturers Roundtable brings together industry leaders to identify best practices for the implementation of green chemistry and engineering in the chemical manufacturing industry. Launched in June 2010 as a partnership between ACS Green Chemistry Institute® and the chemical manufacturing industry, the Roundtable focuses on strategic areas where improving efficiency can benefit the diverse industry stakeholders.

Mission
To provide leadership and education in the interpretation and implementation of green chemistry and green engineering principles as applied in the chemical manufacturing industry. To serve as a consistent source of credible, scientifically sound information in order to influence policy, standard setting organizations, and third parties directly relevant to the chemical manufacturing industry
Strategic Priorities
- To identify, communicate and promote consistently green chemistry and green engineering best practices within industry especially with regard to metrics.
- To encourage policy and standard setting organizations to adopt the Roundtable identified best practices.
- To educate external chemical manufacturer stakeholders on best practices and principles.
- To define and communicate opportunities to significantly improve the ability to effectively implement green chemistry and green engineering into the chemical manufacturing industry, recognizing any success could have a global impact on sustainability in the chemical enterprise.

Member companies who are part of the ACS GCI Chemical Manufacturers Roundtable are dedicated to the implementation of green chemistry and engineering into the manufacturing of chemicals. Member companies face a diversity of challenges and priorities, yet by identifying common processes, the Roundtable can drive sustainability improvements that will have a broad impact on the industry. For example, through the lens of green chemistry and engineering, the Roundtable is defining research, development, and demonstration needs to facilitate industrial adoption of less energy-intensive alternatives to distillation (a staple of most chemical processes).
The ACS GCI Chemical Manufacturers Roundtable invites all corporations producing basic chemicals or manufacturing products by predominantly chemical processes to consider joining. Companies are encouraged to join if they are committed to improving the process of chemical manufacturing through the application of green chemistry and engineering.
The ACS GCI Manufacturer’s Roundtable welcomes the active participation of member companies meeting the eligibility description below. Companies pledge their support and contribute to the Roundtable by making available their knowledge and experience as well as providing financial support. Each member company may designate employees to participate in the Roundtable. Members participate in meetings once every six weeks via teleconference and/or internet and work with committees to direct and develop resources to meet the objectives of Roundtable. At least one in-person meeting is scheduled per year.
Membership Eligibility
Members include establishments producing basic chemicals and establishments manufacturing products by predominantly chemical processes. Establishments manufacture general classes of products such as basic chemicals and specialty chemicals, including acids, alkalis, salts, organic chemicals and polymers to be used in manufacture and formulation.
Membership Fees
Membership contributions are restricted for the purpose of meeting the project needs of the Roundtable. Annual contributions range from $1000-$6000 depending on net global sales.
The ACS GCI Chemical Manufacturers Roundtable operates under the ACS Green Chemistry Institute®, a part of the American Chemical Society, a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
