Science CafÉ explores Global Climate Change: What is it? How will it affect us?

WASHINGTON, April 9, 2009 — In celebration of Earth Day, the American Chemical Society and the Koshland Science Museum invite the public to attend a special Science CafÉ session on global climate change, including what we know, what we don’t know, and a look at possible solutions. The event takes place April 23 at the Koshland Science Museum in Washington, DC.

Cost is $7 for general admission and $5 for students (with ID). Refreshments will be served.

What: Science CafÉ - Global Climate Change: What is it? How will it affect us? Sponsored by the American Chemical Society and the Koshland Science Museum.

Who: Andy Jorgensen, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Chemistry, Director of General Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, University of Toledo (Ohio).

Where: Marian Koshland Science Museum of the National Academy of Sciences, 500 Fifth Street, NW, (at the corner of 6th & E Streets, NW), Washington, DC 20001. There is no parking. Visitors are encouraged to use Metro. The closest stops are Gallery Place/Chinatown or Judiciary Square.

When: Thursday, April 23, 2009, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Why: A community outreach program designed to raise awareness of the importance of chemistry to everyday life, including the human dimension of climate change and how we can find solutions to the problem.
