Media invited to ACS Webinar on opportunities and changes in venture capital financing

WASHINGTON, Aug. 20, 2009 — News media and scientists interested in finance, entrepreneurships and the chemical sciences are invited to join an American Chemical Society (ACS) Small & Medium Business Webinar on business opportunities and strategies for success within the transformed landscape of venture capital.

Scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27, 2 – 3 p.m. Eastern Time, the webinar will feature Josh Wolfe, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Lux Capital, a venture capital firm focused on founding, seed and early stage investments in nanotechnology, semiconductors and life sciences. The webinar’s topic is “What You Need To Know About Changes in Venture Capital Landscape and Capital Raising Process.”

Before forming Lux Capital, Wolfe worked in Salomon Smith Barney’s Investment Banking group, in capital markets while at Merrill Lynch on its Financial Futures & Options/Government Strategy desk and at Prudential Securities in its Municipal Finance department.

The ACS Small & Medium Business Webinar Series is scheduled monthly into 2009 to address current topics of interest to entrepreneurs and small- to medium-sized businesses in the chemical/biopharma enterprise. There will be a 30-minute presentation with Wolfe followed by a 25-minute Q & A session.
