American Chemical Society hosts free Virtual Career Fair, June 8-12

WASHINGTON, June 2, 2009 — The American Chemical Society (ACS) is hosting a free Virtual Career Fair from June 8 -12 for job seekers looking for science-related positions. The five-day fair, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, is open to ACS members and the public. Employers interested in participating are being offered an opportunity to post free unlimited openings.

This is the first virtual job fair for the ACS which offers an array of career consulting services on its Web site (www.acs.org/careers) and at its national and regional meetings. However, with the economic downturn, virtual fairs held entirely on the Internet have become popular. They eliminate the cost and hassle of travel and allow people to fit the event into their own personal schedule, according to Society officials.

At the Fair, candidates can see a list of openings, submit resumÉs for consideration, and request interviews with companies of interest. They will also be able to create a profile, upload their resumÉs, and set up interviews with employers by either phone or a Webcam. Participation in career workshops is available by watching a live Webinar. ACS members receive additional benefits, such as being able to sign up for one-on-one consulting with ACS career coaches and access salary data.

Employers will be able to submit a list of job openings, create agents to search a database of submitted resumÉs, and schedule interviews with promising candidates.

Job seekers and employers who want to participate should go to www.acs.org/careers and register by clicking on the box that says "Register Now! ACS Virtual Career Fair, June 8-12." For more information contact Garretta Rollins at g_rollins@acs.org.
