Entrepreneur Summit for chemists and other innovators will feature ‘Shark Tank’ host

WASHINGTON, Nov. 7, 2017 — Famed entrepreneur Robert Herjavec, one of the hosts of ABC TV’s “Shark Tank” program, will be a keynote speaker at the upcoming American Chemical Society (ACS) Entrepreneur Summit. The event will be held in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 15-16 during Global Entrepreneurship Week. It is designed to connect startups and small businesses in chemical sciences with investors and corporate partners.

Specifically, the summit will offer the following:

  • Opportunities to network with entrepreneurs, private investors and corporate innovators;
  • Insights into interests, trends, opportunities and challenges in chemical entrepreneurship;
  • Practical advice and information for chemistry-based startups and small businesses;
  • New approaches to value proposition, business case

development, customer development, and the operational challenges that arise in the launch of new businesses.

In addition to Herjavec — whose appearance is being sponsored by P&G — speakers will include David Bem, Ph.D., chief technology officer and vice president for science and technology at PPG Industries; Thomas Connelly Jr., Ph.D., executive director and CEO of ACS; Kate Dewey, president of The Forbes Funds; Sanna Gaspard, Ph.D., founder and CEO of Rubitection Inc.; Katherine Gibson, chief innovation officer in ACS’ CAS division; Mark Kline, Ph.D., co-founder and chief technology officer of X-Therma Inc.; Tony Stanco, executive director of the National Council of Entrepreneurial Tech Transfer; and many others.
