C&EN BrandLab named a finalist for 2019 Best Content Marketing Agency Award

WASHINGTON, April 19, 2019 — The American Chemical Society’s (ACS’) Publications Division today announced that C&EN BrandLab has been named a finalist for a 2019 Digiday Content Marketing Award. C&EN BrandLab is a custom content marketing studio within ACS’ Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN) Media Group, one of the first of its kind in the scientific publishing marketplace. The awards recognize organizations that are using content to modernize media and marketing efforts.

Established in 2017, C&EN BrandLab offers pharmaceutical, chemical and instrumentation companies a new way to reach scientists through compelling and scientifically accurate storytelling. Similar to the editorial side of the magazine C&EN, C&EN BrandLab uses innovative narrative formats, analytics and marketing strategies to create a customized content package for each client, and delivers that material to engage ACS Publications’ audience of 27 million annual web visitors and 151,000 Society members, while simultaneously driving awareness for advertisers and sponsors.

“This award nomination is particularly exciting, as it gives companies in the chemical enterprise an important visibility among mainstream consumer brands,” says Rajendrani Mukhopadhyay, Ph.D., the executive editor of C&EN BrandLab. “All brands have a story to tell. It’s no different in the sciences.”

The nomination for Best Content Marketing Agency recognizes the innovative branded storytelling that the studio has carried out for clients, such as Ashland Inc., Evonik, IKA, Lanxess North America, Johnson Matthey, The Chemours Company and HP. In addition to branded storytelling, marketing strategy and distribution, C&EN BrandLab produces traditional custom content pieces, such as white papers and e-books, as well as quizzes, contests and other interactive content.

“Building relationships with clients is one of C&EN BrandLab’s strengths,” says Bibiana Campos Seijo, Ph.D., editor-in-chief of C&EN and vice president of C&EN Media Group. “The C&EN BrandLab team spends a lot of time with advertisers to understand what makes each company stand out in its business niche and to find unusual or new story angles to explore about the chemistry enterprise.”

For this year’s Digiday Content Marketing Award for Best Content Marketing Agency, C&EN BrandLab is up against several notable agencies. The winner will be announced on May 2 at a gala in New York City.
