Audrey M. Rogerson appointed ACS vice president of development

WASHINGTON, May 13, 2019 — The American Chemical Society (ACS) announces that Audrey M. Rogerson, Ph.D., will assume the new role of vice president (VP) of development, effective June 3, 2019. Rogerson brings to ACS 17 years’ experience as a fundraiser and organizational strategist for nonprofits focused on scientific research and science education.

“I am honored and excited to join ACS — an organization with a long record of achievement that continues to marshal its resources to address the contemporary needs of the global community of chemists,” Rogerson says. “My goal is to deepen and expand ACS’ philanthropic partnerships to further advance the Society’s role in the world, its reach and its impact. I look forward to working with the talented ACS team and have confidence in the organization’s potential to attract philanthropic support and realize its timely and far-reaching goals.”

As VP of development, Rogerson will assume leadership in designing, articulating and implementing the future fundraising strategies of the organization. She will provide the strategic vision and leadership for a comprehensive development plan to elevate ACS’ philanthropic success by building a culture of philanthropy across the ACS community. Rogerson’s strategic expertise will be applied to all areas of the organization’s development activities including foundation, corporate and individual philanthropy and board relations. Part of her role will focus on deepening existing relationships, as well as identifying additional significant and topical sources of support.

Most recently, Rogerson served as the director of resource development for the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS), a U.S. research and educational organization operating in Bermuda. Prior to BIOS, she worked as the director of corporate, foundation and government relations for Boston’s Museum of Science and as the director of development for the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University.

Rogerson began her fundraising career as the director of foundation relations for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, where she had been a postdoctoral scholar and tenure-track research scientist in the department of physical oceanography. Before her career in fundraising, she was a practicing research scientist in the field of theoretical and computational fluid dynamics and physical oceanography. She holds a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Brown University.
