American Chemical Society introduces #ACSSciMeet poster event

WASHINGTON, April 23, 2020 — The American Chemical Society (ACS) will hold a virtual poster and presentation networking event for researchers on Twitter and Instagram on April 28, beginning at 9 a.m. ET, using the hashtag #ACSSciMeet. This social media event provides a unique opportunity for scientists across the globe to come together and share the latest discoveries in their fields.

“Poster sessions provide a crucial outlet for scientists to showcase their nascent discoveries,” says Tamara Hanna, Ph.D., director, new product innovation. “This event provides an opportunity for researchers to expand their networks, gain recognition and stimulate conversations about their work with others in their field. Hosting this event on social media will rapidly increase discoverability, as research will be made available to a much larger audience than a conference could provide. Science needs to be shared now more than ever, and this virtual event will help to ensure that discoveries can continue to be advanced in the scientific community.”

ACS has initiated #ACSSciMeet to provide an opportunity for researchers to join one another online to share posters and presentations, network virtually, engage in scientific discussions and celebrate the resiliency of science. Eligible presentations originally intended for the ACS Spring 2020 National Meeting & Expo in Philadelphia should be uploaded to the online SciMeetings platform by April 27.

Participants should share the link to their presentation and provide a description in their Twitter or Instagram post with the hashtag #ACSSciMeet. Researchers are encouraged to be available throughout the event to answer questions about their research and make new connections. Join the conversation by browsing the #ACSSciMeet hashtag on Twitter and Instagram to engage with the latest research across all fields of chemistry. To learn more, please visit the ACS Axial blog.

ACS introduced SciMeetings, created in partnership with Morressier, in March 2020 to showcase scientific presentations and posters online. Materials that had been slated for the ACS national meeting can be uploaded to SciMeetings at no cost through April 30. Presenters who select to make their work publicly available will receive a DOI upon submission.

The American Chemical Society (ACS) is a nonprofit organization chartered by the U.S. Congress. ACS’ mission is to advance the broader chemistry enterprise and its practitioners for the benefit of Earth and its people. The Society is a global leader in providing access to chemistry-related information and research through its multiple research solutions, peer-reviewed journals, scientific conferences, eBooks and weekly news periodical Chemical & Engineering News. ACS journals are among the most cited, most trusted and most read within the scientific literature; however, ACS itself does not conduct chemical research. As a specialist in scientific information solutions (including SciFinder® and STN®), its CAS division powers global research, discovery and innovation. ACS’ main offices are in Washington, D.C., and Columbus, Ohio.
