A liquid marble is an otherworldly combination of liquid and solid. Shaped like a solid marble but with many properties of a liquid, these strange objects were introduced in a 2001 Nature article and quickly went viral. Our host George finds the original paper and starts to experiment, realizing he might be able to make a new scientific discovery. Through his excitement, he misses the crucial fact that it’s been cited over 1,000 times. But despite this oversight, he still makes a possible breakthrough: creating magnetic liquid marbles more simply and cheaply, and in a completely new way.
