'E' is for Egg

'E' is for Egg

Ernesto is an egg cook.
He cooks them everyday.
He scrambles some and boils some,
Then puts the rest away.

He stores the eggs together,
The boiled ones with the raw.
Mixing up his egg supply—
A breaking of EGG LAW.

With all the eggs together,
Ernesto now must guess
Which eggs are the boiled ones,
Or risk a scrambled mess!

What keeps Ernesto's raw egg spinning after he lifts his finger?

The raw egg keeps spinning because its contents are liquid. Try swirling a glass of water and then setting the glass on a table. The water will keep on swirling for awhile. It's the same way with the liquid inside the egg. It keeps swirling after the egg is stopped and makes the whole egg spin again when it's released.
