Summer 2024 REU: Synthesis and Characterization of Bioactive Orbio-inspired Molecules

University of Pittsburgh | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United State of America (USA)

Opportunity Type: Full-time, Research Experience for Undergrads (REU)

Current Program: Bachelor's

Topics: Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Computational Chemistry, Materials, Biochemistry, Biosciences, Nanoscience, Inorganic Chemistry

Sector: Academia

Compensation: Paid

Remote Position: No

Opportunity Description:

Explore the chemistry of biological and bio-inspired systems. Students will join a cutting-edge research project in which they will do things like: develop a new chemical reaction, possibly informed by machine learning techniques; synthesize novel bioactive molecules and materials; apply cutting-edge techniques in chemical biology to interrogate chemical events in live cells; use sophisticated spectroscopic techniques to characterize polymers and biomacromolecules; and model chemical or biological processes using sophisticated computer simulations, and much more!
