Recording Protocols for Press

ACS media credentials are available to individuals who meet the Society’s criteria. Individuals who are registered as Press may record or take photos of meeting attendees only under these circumstances:

  • You must wear your “PRESS” badge.
  • You must have identified yourself as a member of the press to the person being recorded or photographed.
  • You must obtain permission from that person to record or photograph them.
  • The recording or photograph cannot show an attendee’s slides or poster.
  • If the recording or photo occurs at a presentation:
    • You must obtain permission from the symposium organizer(s) in advance. To obtain permission, email newsroom@acs.org for assistance.
    • You cannot record or take photos of the audience, who did not provide consent.
    • You also cannot record or photograph slides being shown in a presentation.
  • If you have large equipment, you must be escorted by ACS Communications staff.

If you are unclear on these rules, or if you run into issues, please contact the ACS Newsroom at newsroom@acs.org, and they will put you in touch with on-sight ACS Communication staff.
