Ph.D., Medical Chemistry, The Ohio State University
Postdoctoral Research Assistant, Organic Chemistry, University of Illinois
I obtained my Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island and my Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from Ohio State. After postdoctoral research with Professor Scott Denmark in organic chemistry at the University of Illinois, I served on the faculty in the Chemistry Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. At that point, I made the academia-to-industry conversion and began a 30-year career in R&D at Procter & Gamble. For the first 16 years, I was part of the Pharmaceuticals organization, eventually becoming Associate Director of Medicinal Chemistry. At that point, P&G Pharmaceuticals Discovery closed out, and I had the opportunity to move into the Consumer Products organization at P&G. Over the next 14 years, I worked in various chemistry leadership roles in the P&G Corporate Research group, along with four years leading the Global Microbiology organization and 2.5 years as a site R&D Operations Leader. I retired from P&G in October of 2020 and began Ares Consulting LLC, focusing on drug discovery technical consulting. I look forward to working with chemists to help them achieve their career objectives.
