Dharshi Bopegedera

Dr. Dharshi Bopegedera is a physical chemistry professor at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Puget Sound Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) in multiple capacities, including the Section Chair, since 2004. She currently serves as a Councilor for this Section, a Career Consultant for the ACS, and serves on the Public Relations Committee of the Chemical Education Division of the ACS.

Her life-long passion has been to serve students, especially chemistry undergraduate students. She has organized the annual Career Event of the ACS Puget Sound Section for seventeen years from its inception to help undergraduates learn about career opportunities in chemistry. She served as the Faculty Advisor to the Evergreen State College Chemistry Club (Student Affiliate Chapter of ACS) from its inception in 2003 to 2019 and engages her students to bring chemistry laboratory experiences to local school children.

She won two teaching awards at The Evergreen State College: Burlington Northern Faculty Achievement Award for excellence in teaching (1993) and the Faculty Achievement Award presented by the President of The Evergreen State College (2014).  Her more recent publications are in the Journal of Chemical Education where two of her articles have been highlighted on the covers page of this Journal.
