Dr. Sajid Bashir Liu is currently a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He obtained his bachelor's degree in chemistry and biochemistry from University College North Wales in 1992 and completed his training in Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Aberdeen (Medical School) from 1992-1994. Dr. Liu then went on to earn his M.A in Analytical Chemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1997, followed by a Ph.D in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Warwick in 2000.

Throughout his career, Dr. Liu has held various positions, including a postdoctoral fellowship at Cornell University in the Plant Biology Department (2001-2003) and a postdoctoral researcher at Warwick University in the Department of Chemistry (2000-2001). He has also been an ONR Distinguished Scientist (2022), USAF SFFP Fellow Faculty (2013-2021), a Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Advanced Light Source FaST Fellow (2011), and holds chartered scientist (2009), chartered chemist (2009), and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2009) Status. Dr. Liu was also the chair of the ACS South Texas Chapter (2011), the secretary of the ACS Energy & Fuels Division (ENFL, 2017/8-2022), and is currently an ACS Career Consultant (2023), ACS South Texas Alternate Councilor (2021-2024), and ACS ENFL Appointed Program Chair (2026).

Dr. Liu's research interests primarily focus on nanomaterials, with a specific emphasis on their applications in renewable energy and as potent disinfectants. He has made significant contributions to the field through his publications and collaborations. Dr. Liu has explored the use of porous metal-organic frameworks with highly potent bactericidal activity, which have great potential in the field of healthcare and various antimicrobial applications.

Furthermore, Dr. Liu has published books highlighting the advanced applications of nanomaterials in renewable energy and energy storage. These publications provide valuable insights into the field and contribute to the collective knowledge on the subject.
