Sandra taught for eight years at Drew University, a small liberal arts college in NJ. Her responsibilities included teaching General and Organic Chemistry lectures and laboratories, Biochemistry lab, Advanced Organic lecture, mentoring undergraduate students, and serving as faculty advisor for two award-winning chemistry student organizations. Sandra became a Senior Safety Advisor and then an Associate Manager with Environmental Health and Safety at Columbia University, where she provides technical guidance and safety information to the research community.
She is an executive committee member of the North Jersey ACS, a Steering Committee member of NJACS ChemExpo at Liberty Science Center, a North Jersey Councilor for the ACS, a member of the ACS General Chemistry Conceptual Exam Writing Committee, and an associate member for the Committee on Chemical Safety.
