Dr. Sergio Nanita is an expert in mass spectrometry, separation sciences, and chemical structure elucidation with 18 years of industry R&D experience and an extensive record of scientific achievements and innovations. He is an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM careers and ACS and a devoted mentor for students and professionals.

Sergio joined Incyte Corporation in 2021 as a Senior Principal Investigator II, where he provides analytical chemistry expertise for the development of new pharmaceutical products. Prior to Incyte, he worked at DuPont for 15 years in scientific roles across multiple businesses, including DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences, DuPont Crop Protection, and DuPont Corporate Center for Analytical Sciences. Sergio’s industry experience covers multiple sectors, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, probiotics, polysaccharides, and synthetic polymers.

Sergio was named one of the “Top 40 under 40” in the Power List of the Analytical Scientist magazine in both 2014 and 2018. He was honored as an ACS Fellow in 2020. He earned a BS in chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico (2001) and a PhD in analytical chemistry from Purdue University (2005).

Sergio has been a volunteer at ACS for many years, including service at the Committee on Corporation Associates, Committee on Ethics, and the Committee on International Activities, which he led for three years as chair (2021-2023). In addition to ACS, Dr. Nanita is a member of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) and a life member of SACNAS.
