What do you love about your job?
My favorite part about my career is that I can see the direct impact that I am having through my design. There have been opportunities where I was able to see my designs on paper come to life in the field during construction; being able to stand back and see this is rewarding in ways I can't put into words.
What has been the most exciting part of your career so far?
So far, the most exciting part of my career has been the opportunity to travel and work in other offices or job sites that Jacobs has across the country. Being in the field of engineering allows for a number of opportunities to travel and I have welcomed each one of them. These experiences teach you a great deal about yourself and help build upon skill sets you normally wouldn't have the chance to operate in.
What would you tell yourself at age 18?
This is an interesting question. I would tell my 18-year-old self that it is okay to fail. Many lessons are learned during the journey and you can use those to persevere during obstacles you encounter in the future. Failure is not the end though it appears to be debilitating.
How has ACS Scholars impacted your life and career?
Being awarded the ACS Scholarship as a sophomore was a significant moment in my college career because it helped lift a portion of the burden of finding a way to cover my college tuition. As an adult, I haven't been as involved as I was in the past and thus haven't seen the impact later on in my life.
