What has been the most exciting part of your career so far?
Seeing the light bulb go off when a students makes an important connection in class. A very close second is seeing a peer-reviewed paper with my undergraduates on it! Both make me proud.
What would you tell yourself at age 18?
Respect for yourself is paramount and doesn't need to be compromised to respect others.
How has ACS Scholars impacted your life and career?
It certainly has. As my career has developed I have come in contact with other ACS Scholars at conferences and via professional networking. From those contacts I been able to create a mentorship network.
Additionally, I am starting to mentor my own ACS Scholars at Pomona and it is nice to see in them what my professors must have seen in me when I was an undergrad. It is a fantastic feeling.
