What do you love about your job?
Wow, where to begin?
I get the chance to do what I truly enjoy, interact, motivate, and mentor students at the collegiate level. My position affords me the opportunity to serve as a catalyst in helping students reach their full academic potential in addition to personal goals. Serving as one the primary faces for the McNair program at my institution allows me to be a positive role model for the student body...."We are what we see."
What has been the most exciting part of your career so far?
Having the flexibility to use creativity for implementing workshops and seminars on campus for scholar's professional development, academic success, etc. is so much fun!
There is no greater reward than seeing scholars combine all that they learn with their scholastic capabilities to go on to succeed!
What would you tell yourself at age 18?
Patience grasshopper....In time all things will come together for the greater good.
Live a little, Life is too short to be so serious ALL the time.
How has ACS Scholars impacted your life and career?
ACS Scholars has and continues to impact my life tremendously in a number of ways. Academically, being selected as a awardee for the scholarship was monumental, and a huge confidence booster for me as a student and my undergraduate institution because it affirmed that I truly had what it takes to compete scholastically despite attending an HBCU.
ACS Scholars provided an extensive alumni network that proved really helpful in preparing me for milestones encountered in and outside of grad school.
