What do you love about your job?
I have the freedom to do a lot different things at the magazine, such as editing and production, reporting and writing articles and scripts, co-managing a blog, and even a bit of drawing. I also got to work with a lot of different people in the office. As a science magazine, C&EN is meant to communicate science to the public, which is something I feel chemists need to do and is something I am in a position to do.

What has been the most exciting part of your career so far?
Admittedly, I've only worked at C&EN, but it's pretty engaging working on something new every week and helping the publication become a lot more modernized than it was when I started.

What would you tell yourself at age 18?
Don't let your degree limit you; use it as a way to explore avenues that leverage your personal talents.

Reach out to people that are doing things you want to get involved in; you have nothing to lose, and usually, they're willing to help you.

Oh and buy Dominos stock in 2010; you'll thank me later.

How has ACS Scholars impacted your life and career?
While I regret not being more involved with fellow ACS Scholars and the program in general, I will say that the free subscription to C&EN is the only reason I heard about the magazine, and therefore the other reason I have this job now. Funny how things happen.
