What do you love about your job?
I love studying pharmaceutical chemistry because it gives me an idea of how basic chemical science can be translated into real world treatments. Translational medicine happens at the interface of chemistry, biology, physiology, and bioengineering and so I get to dabble in many different fields and I never get bored!

What has been the most exciting part of your career so far?

What would you tell yourself at age 18?

How has ACS Scholars impacted your life and career?
The ACS scholars program helped me feel like there was a place for me in chemistry. It brought visibility to other minority scientists like me, helping me feel less alone on my journey. The award itself was a life saver, and came at a time I was struggling to afford tuition. The mentorship relationships I forged, (special thanks to Robert Hughes!) were also invaluable to keeping me in the field of chemistry.
