What do you love about your job?
I love building the bridges between scientific innovation and public welfare. It's vital to include a considerate, fact-based mindset in the discussion of society's biggest problems, and I'm thankful for the space and time to develop both the research and communication skills to provide that service.

What has been the most exciting part of your career so far?
It's been so eye-opening to understand the institutional inertia that affects the lay understanding of and interaction with science. Learning about the historical forces at play has better equipped me to see where I can provide value and clarity.

What would you tell yourself at age 18?
You're going to fail, and it's going to be good for you. Keep having fun, keep trusting and loving others, but don't be so scared. Say yes. Trust your inner compass. Nothing will explode the way you fear it will.

How has ACS Scholars impacted your life and career?
The mentorship and support system of ACS Scholars have been a terrific help! The Scholarship afforded me the opportunity to attend the 2011 Business Today International Conference during college, which exposed me to a wealth of perspectives and stakeholders I hadn't been thinking about.
