CLD-1, a highly nonlinear optical chromophore, is used in making electro-optic polymers, which have great potential for use in telecommunications devices, information processing, and radio frequency distribution. Electro-optic materials take electronic signals and convert them to light signals that can be carried by fiber optic devices.
