Chemistry and the economy year-end review – ACS Webinars, Dec. 13
WASHINGTON— Why should a chemist or a business executive be concerned: Jobs? Inflation? Uncertain tax future? All of the above? According to ACS webinar speaker and business leader Paul Hodges, “It’s the ‘big picture’ issues that we need to watch these days.” Hodges, of International eChem, and Bill Carroll, Occidental Chemical Corporation, will present “Chemistry and the Economy Year-end Review,” Dec. 13, 2:00-3:00 p.m. EST. Their topics will include:
- How the global economy affects us
- How financial markets affect our budgets
- The outlook for wages and pensions
News media and others can tune into the webinar without charge, but must register in advance. The event format will consist of a short presentation followed by a question-and-answer session.
Dr. William Carroll, Jr., is Vice President, Industry Issues, for Occidental Chemical Corporation; Board Chair for the American Chemical Society; and a past president of ACS. He has chaired numerous committees for a variety of chemistry, plastics, fire protection, and recycling organizations. He has served on expert groups commissioned by the United Nations Environment Program and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Paul Hodges is Chairman of International eChem (IeC). Founded in 2001, IeC advises the global chemical industry and its investment community. Paul writes the ICIS ‘Chemicals and the Economy’ blog and he is co-author of the new eBook, ‘Boom, Gloom and the New Normal.
