ACS Outreach Volunteers of the Year; Kim Morehouse recognized for outstanding service
WASHINGTON, March 8, 2022 — The American Chemical Society (ACS) congratulates 33 members for earning its 2022 Outreach Volunteer of the Year Awards. These awards recognize the immeasurable efforts made by volunteers from ACS local sections and international chapters to conduct outreach and teach the public about chemistry.
Kim Morehouse, Ph.D., a retired chemist from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, earned the special honor of ACS Global Outreach Volunteer of the Year. He is recognized as the chief motivation for the Chemical Society of Washington’s annual Chemists Celebrate Earth Week and National Chemistry Week activities. He has since relocated to Jenison, Michigan.
“The joy you see on kids’ faces, and the enthusiasm that comes out of them when they’re doing these outreach activities — it’s just so much fun for me, as well as them,” Morehouse says. “I’ve always enjoyed that part of being involved with ACS.”
The full list of awardees is published in Chemical & Engineering News, and more details about this honor and past winners are available at www.acs.org/voty.
ACS presents award winners with a small gift and a certificate during a meeting or event, and they are recognized during the annual ChemLuminary Awards ceremony.
