Proactive Membership Assistance Program

Proactive Membership Assistance Program

Life-changing events, such as job loss or natural disasters, can disrupt your day-to-day life and completely redefine what normalcy and stability mean to you and your family. This is why the American Chemical Society wants to ensure that you are aware of all the resources at your disposal to help you through tough times.

At ACS, we strive to enrich the value of your membership by offering support throughout your professional career in chemistry in times of success, and in times of difficulty. Some of these benefits are outlined below.

Dues Waivers

In certain circumstances, ACS can waive your national dues. To be eligible you must be an ACS Member or Society Affiliate, and you must contact ACS Membership Services if we have not contacted you directly.

  • Unemployment:
If you have become unemployed and have been an ACS Member or Society Affiliate with at least one year of paid dues, ACS may waive your national dues for one year.
  • Geographic Hardship:
If you live in an area that is experiencing a natural disaster or conflict, ACS may waive your national dues for one year. ACS attempts to proactively notify its global communty in known regions undergoing difficulty but if you have not heard from us and are dealing with extenuating circumstances, please contact Membership Services.
