Mephedrone and methylenedioxypyrovalerone are psychoactive “designer” drugs and components of notorious “bath salts” that have been in the news recently. They are not used for cleansing, but to achieve legal “highs”. They have many adverse side effects and have been banned in some jurisdictions. A mass spectrometry method is being developed to trace the origin of “bath salt” ingredients.
