Al Horvath

Al Horvath is the Chief Executive Officer of ACS and oversees all operational activities of the Society. He serves as an ex-officio (nonvoting) member of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Horvath was previously Chief Financial Officer at ACS where he was responsible for all financial operations at the Society.

He began his career at Mellon Bank and spent more than two decades working in administration for leading research universities in the country including Penn State, Columbia University, Caltech, New York University, and Carnegie Mellon University. He went on to become the Chief Operating Officer and Under Secretary for Finance and Administration at the Smithsonian Institution, where he led the financial, business, and administrative activities for the largest museum, research, and educational complex in the world.

Mr. Horvath earned his bachelor's degree in accounting at Penn State and his master's degree in business administration at Duquesne University. He is a native of Pittsburgh, an avid Steelers fan, and enjoys traveling to new destinations whenever possible.
