Instructions for Proposal Submission
Please Note: Online Submission Requires:
- PDF of completed application form (See Step 4 Below);
- Information in a text format that can be readily inserted into the online form (See Step 5 Below):
— Name and contact information for your institution’s grant officer,
— Petroleum relevance statement,
— Six suggested reviewers with contact information,
— Proposal abstract,
— If the proposal is a resubmission of a previous PRF proposal, a brief description of changes made in the current submission.
To submit a research proposal, complete the following steps:
Download and read the Transfer Agreement (required) and the Application Package for the appropriate grant type. Only current application forms will be accepted. Current versions of the application forms are available on the home page for the grant type (i.e., ND, DNI, UR, UNI).
Fill in the application forms.
Obtain all signatures required on the title page and the budget page of the application. Failure to provide the required signatures will result in your application being withdrawn as incomplete.
Create a single PDF file of all forms and documents in the following order:
- Proposal abstract
- Proposal narrative
- Supporting documentation such as letters of collaboration, etc. (if applicable).
The upload file MUST be a PDF. No other file format is accepted. Include your name as part of the PDF filename. There will be an opportunity to upload the PDF during the submission session (Step 5)
Access the submission site for the appropriate grant type, and answer all eligibility questions. A link to these instruction and active submission site will be visible during the submission window and is located on the right side of the home page for the grant type (i.e., ND, DNI, UR, UNI).
The following browsers have been certified compatible with the submission website:
- Mozilla® Firefox® (for PC and Mac)
- Safari® (for PC and Mac)
- Google Chrome®
- Internet Explorer® 11, 10, 9, 8
Your web browser must be enabled to support cookies in order to access the submission website.
An application may be saved by clicking the "Save & Finish Later" button found at the bottom of each form page. If you are not logged in to the proposal submission system, or have not yet created an account, you will be prompted to do so at this time. You can log back in to the site later and resume submission process. Screen snapshots and additional guidance are available in the online help.
Click on the “Submit” button when you have completed the application and are ready to transmit the proposal to ACS PRF. Any saved but not submitted applications will be deleted after the submission window closes. No hard copy application is required. Keep original for your records.
