Bernat Navarro Serer, Ph.D.

Biography

Bernat received his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Medicine at Johns Hopkins University working on pancreatic cancer metastasis. He was the former President of the Johns Hopkins Science Policy Group, a student-led science policy group that aims to engage early-career scientists in science policy, advocacy, and science communication.

During his time at Johns Hopkins, he was a fellow for the Union of Concerned Scientists working on data collection and reporting in instances of police violence in the United States.

He is interested in the intersection of health and environmental policies and has authored policy analysis and memos regarding both policy issues, including managed retreat policies or urban policy to reduce air pollution in D.C.
